Your future is hidden in your daily routine

Anthony Charles, CEO Choices Magazine  and Team titanium

Business people x3 300x165 pxHow has this year been for you so far?  Have you accomplish all the things you wanted to thus far?  What does next year have in store for you?  Have you set goals?  Have you made plans for your future?

Are you on track for this year to be your year for a real breakthrough?

It’s definitely your choice; you see your future is hidden inside of your daily routine, does that make sense to you?

If it doesn’t, what I simply mean is that if I was invisible and followed you around for an hour watching your behaviour, I could pretty much predict what your day is going to be like if you continued to do what you were doing while I observed you.

If I were to follow you around for a whole day monitoring your behaviour I could pretty much predict what your week would be like if you continued those behaviours and actions.

Watching you for a week would tell me what your month would be like and watching you for a month… ok you get the message don’t you – what you are doing now will affect your future.

And I don’t just mean a particular action.  I mean your overall attitude to others, to situations and more importantly; to you; because your attitude affects your activity and your activity affects your results, and your results affect your attitude.  It’s a circle that you can control.

So here are a few more questions to consider; what are you doing right now, on an hour to hour, day to day, week to week basis.  Is it productive?  Is it taking you closer to or further away from the things you really desire in life?  If five people joined you and did exactly what you were doing now, would that make an awesome team?  If not, why not?  What can you change?

Give these 6 actions a go:
1. Let go of the past

Before you can create a better future, you must let go of the pains you have experienced in the past.  The past should be a place of reference and not a place of residence.  Learn from these experiences, stop hiding them; get them out of your head so you can create space to work.  Get a hold of fear so you can stop fear from holding on to you.  Turn your past stumbling blocks into stepping stones.

2. Raise your standards

It’s time to raise your standards.  It’s time to expect more out of you than anyone else.   Mohandas Ghandi put it best when he said “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”   Start with your world, your life, your future.  No more excuses; expect and accept nothing but the best from you.

3. Take ownership

Before positive changes can take place in your life, you must take responsibility for your position in life.  You are in the driving seat and can make the decision to arrive at any destination you choose. As Peter Parker’s uncle says in Spiderman “With great power comes great responsibility.”   If you don’t make a decision and stand for something, you will fall for anything.

4. Stop knowing and start doing

At this point it’s typical for you to start saying, I know, I know.  Unfortunately; to know and not to do is not to know.  Don’t procrastinate; you do not have the luxury of time.  Make a decision and start backing it up with action.

5. Get excited about what’s to come

You are on your way to making a real difference in your life.  Make this year stand out as your year of change.  Get excited and inspired about your incredible future.  Imagine living out your dreams, goals and aspirations.  Imagine really making a difference in your life and the lives of those around you.  What are you waiting for – make it happen!

6. Start now

Take action now; right now.  Do something different right now.  I don’t care what time it is, do something different right now.  Call someone, pick up a book and start reading, pick up a journal or workbook and start writing down your plans, start taking action to reach your goal now.  STOP!  Are you letting that small voice loose in your head again; was that an excuse it just helped you to think of as to why you can’t take action right now?  Sounded convincing didn’t it?  You are closer to your goals and dreams than you think; the only thing standing in your way of taking the necessary action is a little voice in your head.  Come on, do something different now, take action now, be the change you want to see.

Stay focused, stay positive and live your dreams.
